The Voyage
Departing the home port of Oceanside Harbor on Leap Day of 2024. The slip that has been a home for almost 30 years is being subleased for the first time. The last year has been the most intense bout of boat work that I have personally experienced; outfitting a boat for a Pacific Ocean crossing is no simple task. It is a congregate of addressing each system of the boat, troubleshooting problems, itemizing the parts that make a whole and fabricating solutions.
Our 3000+ nautical mile journey takes us to French Polynesia, a series of islands that allows us to test all boat systems for sustainability. Propagation by wind, generation of solar energy, reverse osmosis to make water, catching fish for food and finding surf for entertainment. The journey to these islands will entail around 30 days at sea without seeing land, nor other people, and we will have to be as independent as possible as we sail into the middle of the ocean towards the South Pacific.
Follow our journey to learn more about the adventures we experience sailing to another part of this world.
